How bland is your About Page?

I was checking out Mastin Kipp’s Maui retreat page today and when I read his About Page, I was like “that is one of the best About Page’s I have read in ages.

Your About Page is one of the most visited pages on your website and shouldn’t be overlooked as an opportunity to create a meaningful connection that gets your prospects motivated.

So, I thought I would give you a few best practice tips and a list of some of my favourite About Pages that could inspire your own efforts.

Take a look at your About Page now and make sure it has the following elements:

1. Write it in first-person in your own unique voice – whether that be laid-back, funny, out-there or business-like make sure it is authentically you and conversational in tone. Just like if you were meeting someone in-person at a business or social event.

2. DO tell readers how they could work with you, what you do and who you do it for and preferably have a link for them to take action to purchase or enquire about your programs or services.

3. Add a third-person or formal bio that others can lift for Podcasts, Speaking Gigs and Guest Posts. It will also appeal to those who want to go deeper in to due diligence before they work with you (a link to your Linked in bio could work here too).
